The Tickler Event

The Pan-European is a great bike for touring, and as its name implies, it loves the open roads of Europe. Whilst many Pan-Clan riders have experienced the delights of touring mainland Europe, there are a few who find the idea quite daunting especially to do on their own (taking the Pan on a ferry, driving on the "wrong" side of the road, the French roundabout system, speed limits and town signs, getting fuel, the language! to name only a few).

Also, where to go? Even experienced riders sometimes have difficulty in knowing where to go, what to see and what to do.

For several years, the club have organised The Tickler event. The event consists of a long weekend somewhere in Europe. This is usually the near continent (France, Germany), but some years are a bit more ambitious than others and the event has been held in Switzerland.

The Tickler event is organised by experienced European riders who have been to the area, checked out the hotels, and ridden many of the roads.

The event is an ideal opportunity to explore different areas of Europe with a group of similar minded Pan riders. You can partake in the organised runs and visits to places of interest, or just 'do your own thing'; it is a holiday!

The event usually takes place over the late May bank holiday weekend, departing on the Thursday for a channel crossing and spending Friday to Monday nights in the selected hotel. Everything is booked for you except getting too and from the location. It's fairly common for small groups of riders from an area to get together for a group ride to the hotel.
